The eighth edition of the Wild Beauty Art Festival is set to kick off with a concert by the renowned Macedonian ensemble “Ljubojna,” a significant representative of the contemporary world music scene in the Balkans. The concert will take place at the festival stage at Macan Poljana on July 4 at 6 PM, offering attendees a unique opportunity to experience the distinctive musical expression of a group that has successfully blended tradition with modern sounds for 25 years.
This year’s festival continues to develop its program based on the idea that tradition is a living art form—one that is not merely preserved through memory but is continually explored, reinterpreted, and passed on to new generations. For this reason, the festival gathers artists whose creativity transcends genre and spatial boundaries, nurturing cultural heritage through contemporary artistic expression.
The concert, titled “Puls Balkana,” symbolically opens this festival concept. Through a rich and diverse program, the audience will have the chance to experience music that connects various traditions of the Balkans, confirming that cultural heritage is an inexhaustible source of inspiration and a meeting place for people, ideas, and art. “Ljubojna” builds its music on a rich Macedonian musical legacy while simultaneously shaping it through various genre influences, including jazz, soul, funk, and oriental motifs, along with contemporary arrangements. Their authentic artistic approach has earned them recognition as a prominent ensemble in the region, with performances across Europe and the world, as well as contributions to theater, film, and dance productions solidifying their international reputation.
Leading the ensemble is the charismatic vocal soloist Vera Miloševska, whose interpretative expression is the band’s hallmark. She is joined by Oliver Josifovski (bass guitar and backing vocals), Risto Krstevski (accordion), Mihajlo Mihajlovski (electric violin), and Aleksandar Sekulovski (drums).
“‘Puls Balkana’ is not just the name of the concert; it is an invitation to the audience to explore the richness of cultural identities in our region through music. It is particularly important to us that the festival is opened by artists who do not perceive tradition as something belonging to the past but as a living inspiration for new creations and dialogue with contemporary audiences,” stated the festival’s PR team.
They remind us that “Ljubojna” (love + struggle) is one of the most prominent and representative bands in the region, authentically bringing the pulse of the Macedonian landscape to life. Their music is characterized by a synthesis of emotions and sounds, encompassing joy, sadness, euphoria, intensity, “chill-out,” pop, passion, funk, soul, folk, oriental influences, belly dancing, and jazz. Over the past 25 years, the band has evolved through various stage setups that have influenced its diverse styles.
In 2011, the band added the term Brass Fantasy to its name, becoming an even greater sensation in the music world and capturing the attention of audiences in large concert venues, including amphitheaters with over fifty thousand attendees. The band has composed music for numerous theatrical, ballet, dance, and film projects and has released around ten audio recordings.
The eighth Wild Beauty Art Festival will take place from July 4 to August 15, with general sponsorship from ONE and support from the Municipality of Žabljak, Crnogorska Komercijalna Banka, and other valuable sponsors and partners.
